A Child’s DREAM Foundation, Inc., Baguio City’s first pediatric therapy center for special children, presents Balikbayans Care. This is in line with Baguio Centennial’s theme : Fostering A Culture of Caring. A Child’s DREAM Founder & Medical Director Dr. Francis Xavier Dimalanta & Exec. Director Mita Angela Dimalanta announced that Canadian Balikbayans will facilitate Clinical Workshops for children with special needs. Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), Occupational Therapy, Adapted Physical Activity, Behavioral Management Workshops will be held in Baguio City at the Lions International Clubhouse at Gov. Pack Rd. from November 17 to November 19. Family training as well as multi-disciplinary presentations will be conducted.
Balikbayan Project 2009 Founder Jonathan Rivero, who is an Occupational Therapist/Behaviour Consultant/Martial Arts Instructor; is also an accredited Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) Workshop facilitator (www.triplep.net). He will give seminars to families on evidence-based practice for dealing with behaviour for children with Special Needs. Paula Demay has worked with female children on a self-expression program, and has extensive experience working with children with Autism. She will assist Jon Jon Rivero in the workshops. Ryan Recuenco , who holds a Masters Degree in Adapted Physical Activity, is a Certified Exercise Physiologist, registered Kinesiologist specializing in pediatrics and a children’s fitness specialist. He is an expert at teaching adapted physical activities in helping children with special needs participate in meaningful leisure activities. Bernie Hernando (Film-maker-videographer) will be documenting the Canadian Balikbayan Program’s entire experience in the Philippines to help spread awareness to other organizations, cultures, and families in Canada (in hopes of inspiring other youth, professionals, and families) to get involved and give back to motherland Philippines.
